Allah swears by time. And man loses.

Wal-'Asr. Innal-insāna lafī khusr.
By time — verily, man is in loss.

One of the shortest surahs in the Qur'an. And one of the heaviest. Imam Ash-Shafi'i said: if people only thought about this, it would be enough.

Zaman is not the clock. Zaman is the era entrusted to you, the years you will soon account for. Every hour that passes, passes. Nothing brings it back.
